Correctional Billing Services – Phone Service
The customer care section of Evercom Systems, Inc. along with T-Netrix, Inc., both of which are subordinates of Securus Technologies Inc., offer prison phone systems through Correctional Billing Services. The types of account offered by CBS are:
Direct Bill Account
The Direct Bill Account is the best choice for attorneys or social workers as well as those belonging to government organizations or bail bondsmen.
Conventional Collect Account
This is a very convenient way for receiving calls from inmates and paying for the calls through the Traditional Collect Account. The rolling spending limit consists of 90 days and the charges that are incurred due to the account will be shown on the local telephone bill.
You can get calls from inmates from correctional institutions through the prepaid account known as the AdvanceConnect Account. With this account it is possible to set up several phone numbers at which the inmate can call the account user, so that they can be accessed wherever they are.
The calls made through collect mode are also known as calls assisted by operators and therefore, there is a certain amount of surcharge applied for such calls. The usual call rates apply according to the call charge per minute along with the surcharge. The collect calling services provided in prisons by the usual correctional facilities services apply the charges that are imposed by AT&T, the Bell Operating Companies and MCI/Worldcom, as they are the primary carriers for such services. The rates charged by Correctional Billing Services are in accordance with the regulations applied under federal rules.
Options for Payment Modes:
There are several methods of payment for the calls, such as:
Payment Method – Traditional Collect Account
The local phone bill can be used for paying the amount due to the traditional collect account. The user can also contact the website, http://www.correctionalbillingservices.com/general/ContactUs.aspx?ref=its, in case he finds the line blocked on account of exceeding the spending limit for the calls. Another option offered to the user is to contact Correctional Billing Services and call them in order to pay the cost of unbilled amounts. This amount is for that which is not sent by the regular phone bill. If the user is in constant need of making calls above the spending limit, the best idea would be to select an AdvanceConnect Account option.
Payment methods – AdvanceConnect Account and for Direct Bill Account
In this case the payment is made either through a Credit or Debit Card and can also be made through a Personal Checking Account.
In case of those making payments through mail, the following payment methods are accepted:
- Money order
- Cashier’s check
- Personal check
The mailing address is available at : https://securustech.net/
If the user has not completely used up all the money that he has paid towards the AdvanceConnect Account, then it is possible to obtain a refund of the balance in the account. However, it is important to request the balance refund within 180 days of the last call being made from the Account. Refunds are not provided if the specified date has expired. If the 180 limit has not been reached, the user can get a partial or even a complete refund of the balance in his AdvanceConnect Account.
If the user wishes to get a refund of the Account, he can call 1-800-844-6591 to contact CBS. Alternatively, he can also send an email to CBS at email@example.com. A third option provided for refund services is through the chat services on the website: https://www.correctionalbillingservices.com?ref=its. If the transaction is conducted through the CBS website or by phone, the refund will be made to the credit, debit or checking account used for making the last call. In case of accounts that were mailed or paid using Western Union, the refunds will be sent by post, but this might take two to three weeks. In case of personal checks, there is a charge of $25. This applies for dishonored checks and additionally there might be late payment charges and fees.
